Sonja Sakelsek in Zermatt in the The Omnia Hotel

A stay in the mountains can not only be relaxing, but also unforgettable. My visit to The Omnia Hotel in Zermatt took this experience to a whole new level. The hotel has rightly received many awards and gained international fame.

The journey on the nostalgic Matterhorn-Gotthard Railway from Zurich through the picturesque Valais mountains is a highlight in itself. The train windows can be opened, so I was able to enjoy the fresh mountain air during the journey.

At Zermatt station, we were greeted by an extremely friendly concierge who dropped us off in his electric car right in front of the hotel terrace. Not only did a delicious welcome drink await us here, but also the first breathtaking view of the majestic Matterhorn.

The staff were extremely friendly and quick, and we quickly moved into our room. The interior is modern and stylishly designed by architect Aly Tyar. The bathtub in particular, designed by Philippe-Patrick Starck, which offers a direct view of the Matterhorn, is an absolute highlight. Breakfast the next morning exceeded all expectations. The restaurant in the basement exudes a tranquil atmosphere, the high-quality food is a delight, and the staff are simply lovely. It was a real pleasure to start the day with such an exquisite breakfast.

I have already got to know many hotels in our industry, but what I have experienced here is incomparable. The warmth, conscientiousness and pleasure in service that the team around Christian Eckert radiates is remarkable. If you are looking for an unforgettable stay, I can only warmly recommend The Omnia Hotel!

The sunny weather invited us on an unforgettable hike on the Gourmet Trail!

The hike from Sunnegga, Zermatt's sun terrace, via the idyllic hamlet of Findeln to the panoramic Ried is not only a feast for the eyes, but also for the palate. This relatively easy route takes us past the Leisee lake, through flowering mountain meadows and dense forests, and offers breathtaking views of the majestic Alps.

During the hike along this picturesque trail, I not only enjoyed the tranquillity of nature, but also discovered the culinary highlights of the region. Stopping off at the Chez Vroni mountain restaurant not only offered delicious food, but also a warm atmosphere that rounded off the day perfectly.
